Whew! So, today I relettered and uploaded another two weeks' of strips. It was kind of tedious and annoying, the more so since I passed February 28—as I mentioned in a previous commentary, one reason I picked last year to relaunch the strip was that the days of the year fell on the same weekdays as during the strip's original run, so if I relaunched the strip in 2023 and ran the strips on the same dates, the Sunday strips would fall on Sundays as they were supposed to... but I'd forgotten that 2024 was a leap year and 2001 wasn't, which meant the dates would only match up until February 28. (Although, as I also mentioned in that earlier commentary, even if I had realized that at the time I probably would have relaunched the strip anyway, since the earliest year that that dates would match up including leap year (or the lack thereof) would be 2028, and I didn't really want to wait that long.) This means for all the strips after 2028 I'm having to not only reletter the text, but change the dates, too; I wrote in a new date for the February 29 strip (formerly the March 1 strip) and then for all the succeeding strips just moved the date from the previous strip onto the next strip. This added an extra step to the process of remastering the old strips that was, well, not really any more fun or exciting than the relettering.
But! This puts me now almost a month ahead, as far as relettered and uploaded strips. I think I may try to get another two weeks' worth of strips done every day, until they're all finished. Yes, it'll be tedious and annoying, but it'll only be six or seven days, and it'll be worth it to get those all done. Then I can focus on making new strips for when the strips from the original run run out... which is something I still have to do, but that hopefully I'll have an easier time finding the time and motivation for when I no longer have to worry about relettering the old strips.
