There is a specific reason why I decided Maiz didn't like ham, but it is a reason that would reveal things I would rather not reveal just now, so I will keep it a secret. (Not reveal things about upcoming story developments; there are no plans for Maiz's dislike of ham to play a role in the plot. I mean it would reveal things about me.)
In other news, I did actually make the time this evening to reletter and upload the next two weeks' worth of strips! It took a while, but it's done! Now, I just have to make sure to get at least another two weeks' worth of strips done before these two weeks run out, and so on, and if all goes well there'll never be a late strip again. (Of course, before June I'll have to have started getting up new strips, but... well, yeah, I'll try to get on that.)
I didn't write all the commentaries in advance when I relettered the strips, for three reasons: (1) something might come up within the next two weeks that I want to mention in the commentaries (2) writing the commentaries takes time too, and I wanted to prioritize getting the strip up; I'd rather have strips go up without commentary than not go up at all; and (3) I am lazy.
In other other news, you may have noticed another change in the copyright date. (You probably didn't, but you hypothetically may have.) The copyright on this strip says "©2005-2024". Yeah... as I was going through the old files, I noticed that apparently I'd kept falling more precipitously behind to the point that this strip actually wasn't drawn until 2005. In fact, neither were the previous two strips, and before that the strips from January 19 on were actually finished in 2004. Yeah, I... wasn't updating very often. I'm not sure why I kept updating at all at that point, if I was going to do so so infrequently; I doubt by that point I had any readers left. For some time, I still managed to convince myself I was going to catch up with all the missing strips and get back up to date, which was... patently ridiculous, although I think by this point I may have been far enough behind that the absurdity of thinking I'd catch up was evident even to me. Anyway, I'm not going to let that happen this time around.
