Comic strip for January 26 2024.
PANEL ONE: The champion faces the ghost of DeVallon. CHAMPION: But wait...if you're nothing but an IMMATERIAL PHANTOM, how can you harm me anyway? DEVALLON: Oh, it's difficult for me to harm you DIRECTLY, I grant...but there are INDIRECT ways... PANEL TWO: DeVallon moves backward into Maiz, who's sitting on the floor behind him. DEVALLON: ...like POSSESSING A BODY TO USE AGAINST YOU! PANEL THREE: DeVallon, in Maiz's body, lifts his fists in triumph. DEVALLON: AH, HA HA HA HA HA HA—ha... ha... ha... PANEL FOUR: DeVallon, in Maiz's body, thinks while the champion stands nearby. DEVALLON: Hm... okay... my victorious laughter just isn't the same in this high–pitched voice. CHAMPION: Yeah, the next time you possess a body you may want to consider using something a little more formidable than a seven–year–old child...

I know in a lot of shows when characters switch bodies or possess other characters they somehow keep their original voices, but... no, that's never made sense to me. Your voice is determined by (among other things) the shape of your vocal cords; it goes with your body. Sure, your speech patterns and accent and affectations may come with you, but if you're in a completely different body you're not going to keep your own voice exactly as it was. So, yeah, while he's possessing Maiz, DeVallon speaks in Maiz's voice.

(I realize, of course, that there are a lot of other logical issues with possession and body-switching, but this is one in particular that's always bothered me.)
